GRACIAS!!!!

This is a very special blog post for my Grandma Joann Taylor!!!!!!  Thank You for you donation to the Aldea Orphanage, home of the most adorable children in the world.  I love these children with all my heart and am so happy we are going to be able to purchase an oven for them to start a business and have more money for them and the staff.  Many children at the Aldea need medical attention, however, all medicines can not be purchased! The money from the bakery will help these children to have the medicines and other supplies needed along with helping to pay the staff salary.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GRANDMA!!  The children at the Aldea also love you and if they could, would give you the best hug you could ever ask for!!!!

Tracy and Lindy

Tracy and Lindy are on the board for HELP International. They made a visit to our lovely city of Piura just a few weeks ago. While in country they accompanied us to all of our projects and gave us plenty of advice and help. While I was setting up Indiegogo Tracy told me to keep him informed about how the page was going and told us he would help us market the site to others. Today as I was working away I decided to check the Indiegogo page. I was shocked when I realized that our numbers had jumped by $1,000. I think I jumped up and down for at least five minutes straight.

Thank you so much for all the help that you have not only given me, but given our whole team. We are so grateful to have you on the HELP board of directors and as a friend. Words cannot describe how I feel. Thank you, thank you, thank you again for everything you have done for us!

Perofri

Perofri,

Thank you so much for your generous donation. Yesterday we had a chance to visit the orphanage and tell them how much had been donated so far. They were so pleased and happy. Thank you so much for being apart of that. We are so grateful that you thought of us.

Orphan Love

After our meeting with Javier yesterday we got a chance to play with some of the baby's at the orphanage. We fell head over heels in love with them.

Aldea Update!

Friends,

Here is an update on what has been happening in Peru.

Earlier this week we met with our friend Rosie. She is a local baker here in Piura. Rosie is a volunteer baker at the orphanage and has been kind enough to give us some advice. At our meeting with Rosie she told us what supplies the orphanage still needed so they could sustain a business. So we could figure out some financial costs we spent this past week  running around town trying to price out exactly how much everything is going to cost.

So the orphanage has something to sell from we are planning on making a stand. We are thinking of painting it blue and putting the kids hand prints on it. We will keep you updated with pictures in the near future!

Yesterday we had a meeting with Javier. Javier is the psychologist at the orphanage and has been our main go to guy for most of the information we have needed. We gave him a list of prices for everything that Rosie had told us the bakery still needs and also a list of how much all the supplies will cost for the bread stand.  We also got the okay to build the stand for the orphanage next week. We are planning on picking up supplies on Monday and starting to construct on Tuesday.

We made plans with Javier to have the orphanage's grand opening the 25th of July. We are hoping to make it a really great event. Tomorrow I am going to make a list of things to do and hopefully we can tackle our list with full force. We also found out that the orphanage's 25th anniversary is in August. We are hoping to somehow incorporate the bakery opening along with the activities that are happening at the orphanage for their anniversary.

All of us here in Peru are so excited about everything that is going on for the orphanage. We couldn't be more thrilled about the support we have gotten and about the future work that we have on our plates. Thank you so much for following us and for allowing us the opportunity to serve the people we are meeting here in Piura. This experience has really been a life changing one so far and I feel so blessed to know and work with everyone that is joining me in it!

Lynn Allen-Biros

Lynn, Thank you so much for your generous donation to the orphanage. We played with the kids yesterday and got some really great shots of them playing around. We can't wait to send you your own copy of one of the kids. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your generous donation!

Welcome to the Orphanage

Today we met up with Javier in the center of town and applied for a vending license so that the orphanage can sell the bread they will be making. After, we decided to make a quick stop by the orphanage and say hi to a few of the kids. Here are a few snap shots of the bakery and of the kids.

One of our lovely help volunteers

 The deteriorating oven

 The mixer and counter space

The other side of the bakery
 The entrance to the Panaderia

Of course the adorable kids that we all love!

We are hoping to go back to the orphanage tomorrow and spend more time photographing the kids and the activities that they get to do there. Hopefully we will start baking by next week! Wish us luck!

Baking Project 101

Okay friends, here is a quick update on what we have been up to. The Aldea is a local orphanage here in Piura that the Help team made contact with last year towards the end of the summer. Located inside of the Aldea is a small panaderia.  A local baker volunteers at the orphanage a few times a week and produces bread for the orphans to eat.
Here is our plan. We are trying to produce a sustainable bakery that will help contribute more money towards the orphanage and to the needs of a new oven. Although the panaderia is in good shape, the oven located inside is inefficient and in deteriorating condition. We have run the idea past the director and psychologist of the orphanage and they are more than willing to partner with us and allow for us to come into their territory. Tomorrow we are acquiring a vending license from the local municipality and are going to move forward from there. Our plan is to learn how to bake the bread with the orphans and then facilitate them making the bread early on and help with the selling.
We are setting up a program where the orphans can come in their spare time to help a local baker learn the trade of baking and help us in selling the bread. The money that the orphanage is planning on raising from selling the bread is not nearly enough for a new oven. It would take years for The Aldea to make enough in order to buy a new oven. That is where you come in.
We are making a call for help. We want to help The Aldea raise the money for their new oven. With a new oven The Aldea will be able to produce more efficiently and will have one less thing off of their worry list. This week we plan on creating an Indiegogo account. Indiegogo will allow for all walks of people to be able to donate to our cause, and the money goes straight to the orphans. We are looking for several ideas on how we can fund raise and help The Aldea. If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment on this blog or to email our Help International team at peru@www.help-international.org
Thanks for all of your continued love and support to us here in Peru. We will make sure to keep everyone updated about our progress and will post our Indiegogo sight as soon as it is up and running.
